The problem is that he was a superstar in an industry that these ladies were trying to get into, so it was undoubtedly a coercive use of power. Consent can't really reliably be given if theres a disparity in power that big. And the few that were brave enough to say no, he interfered with and greatly hurt if not ended their careers. Super creepy and disappointing.

@Wurlitzer Sarah Silvermans career hasnt been affected. From the accpunts of other comedians it was seen as his thing , he didnt force anyone and it was consensual . If he did force people then i would agree with you it would have been an abuse of power . He also did it when he was an up and coming comedian and had no power. Im not defending his actions but when adults engage in a consensual act complaining about it later cannot really by justified

@Simon1 Sarah silverman was already established. He did hurt several other womens careers by abusing his power, this wasnt just when he was a random pipsqueak or they wouldnt have all "let" him do it. I dunno which comedians accounts youve heard but all the ones Ive heard talk about it said he abused his power and undoubtedly ended several careers. For reference i listen to about 10 hrs of mostly comedians podcasts a day and heard about this about 2-3 years before it was public. She didnt say who did it at the time but I kinda figured n really hoped it wasnt him but kinda knew it was.

He did get a reputation and some women just laughed it off but others were in a state of shock and unable to stop him. No matter if you have much power over a woman or not, if youre a man and stand between them and the door and ask if you can masturbate in front of them, a lot of them will freeze and laugh nervously as a survival mechanism. That doesnt mean its ok to proceed. Fight or flight are not the only survival instincts. A lot of women will and did freeze up on him and he continued bein a creep. Not sayin hes Cosby or Weinstein but still creepier than I can get past.

@Wurlitzer the interview i heard her say all this happened when they were both starting their carreers and not even known. The problem with all of this its either hearsay or from people who have said things years after the fact .
