How far in advance do you recommend making reservations via airbnb? I plan on visiting Niagara Falls and Atlantic City later this year and don't want to miss out.

I would say if there is a holiday or major event happening in the area when you're there, you will want to book as early in advance as possible to make sure you get a place. If you're going during the off-season, booking last minute probably won't be a huge deal - I don't have much experience with AirBnB, I usually use HomeAway, but I like to book at least a month or two in advance.

I'm no expert, but why not make your reservations as soon as you know your travel dates? I'd say reserving anytime less than a year in advance is not too early.
When I used to rent my place out to visitors, I remember getting a lot of inquiries to book in January, as that seems to be the time many people find out their vacation days. January seems to be a good time to get your vacation booked.

My plans are for mid July and late August but my husband can only get time off approved 3 months in advance. I wasn't sure if that would be waiting too long. He says a lot could happen between now and then and wants me to wait. The planner in me is itching to have things set.
@soulless In that case, I'd wait until you have your dates finalized. I agree a lot can happen between now and then, including new openings, new information on where you might like to stay for activities you might like to enjoy. Best to continue doing your research so you can begin your inquiries for you first picks as soon as you have your dates confirmed.
