When trying to find a compatable traveling companion, what are the best questions? I'm finding deal breakers for me is: doesn't drink coffee, and doesn't understand that I can accomodate many things, but not until I've had my fucking coffee. We have to keep the same hours- I'm an early riser and I don't party at night. Vegetarians are OK as long as they don't complain because I'm eating every last bite off the bones. I say bad words once in a while, and if someone is judgemental about that, it's not going to work out. What are other things to decide before you make plans together. I might look into joining a group my brother is going to travel with. He asked if I was willing to room with an impotent old Chinese man. The only thing I could think of was 'ya, if he doesn't suck his teeth or moan in the bathroom'. Gotta be better questions than that.

Lots and lots of questions about every facet such where do you eat, how do you share the bathroom, are their nightly interruptions of any kind, what are sleeping hours, etc. Best to share a weekend together before making any serious travel plans.

lol your post is awesome! Coffee would be a big thing for me as well. I also tend to be messy so neat freaks are not my favorite companions. I also love to mix with the locals, and ea local foods, dance, etc. I cuss a lot and love to learn that part of the culture as well. I am pretty active, so I tend to walk or swim or something so I would not like someone who just wants to sit or watch tv while traveling. I have slept through earthquakes and the sounds of gunfire and drumming, so noisy companions don't bother me in the least. My favorite companion is my Canadian girlfriend who puts up with me no matter what. lol

It is impossible to ask questions about the "deal breakers" without being rude or inappropriate. For example, how do you about flatulence? Your brother is rooming you with an impotent man and you are okay with that? Compatibility is an equation, balanced expressions on both sides.

No smoking, quiet snorer or fine with a white noise machine, non-judgemental about my vices and habits, but of course have none of their own, haha!

I don’t drink coffee (hate the taste; love the aroma). Maybe the litmus test shouldn’t be whether they drink it but whether they support your need to find it. I can’t be in close proximity to smokers, perfume/cologne wearers, incessant gum snappers, non-stop talkers, or people who aren’t attentive to hygiene. No patience for racists, xenophobes, Trumpsters, sexists, transphobes, homophobes, or guys who assume sex is happening without emotional connection. This may be why I’m planning a solo road trip next year. ?
