I Sing the Bright Day

I sing the bright day down the sky—
The drowsing sun is silent, deaf to pleas.
I sing because I cannot cry.

The song wells up from nowhere, to fly
Into this world like startled birds from trees.
I sing the bright day down the sky.

My source as well I cannot spy—
Like unseen blocks that build the winding breeze.
I sing because I cannot cry.

No tear will come to soothe the eye
that burns with seeing. Upon my battered knees
I sing the bright day down the sky.

The light will fade, the day will die,
This burning song will sink into a wheeze.
I sing because I cannot cry.

The song rolls out, is blown awry,
Like wind wracked smoke above the raging seas—
I sing the bright day down the sky.
I sing because I cannot cry.

I like it. An interesting rhyme pattern, also

It's an existing form that I can't remember the name of right now. An old rhyme pattern and line repitition.

@tnorman1236 I'm a member of AllPoetry.com and there are a couple of guys there who know hundreds of rhyme patterns. If you're not a member, give it a peek. [allpoetry.com]

Good expression, for the need to cry and it is stuck, somehow!

Boys are taught not to cry from a young age. At least, they used to be.

@tnorman1236 yes...they were ‘sissy’s’ that is sad.
