How about starting the day with an extraordinary birth...What you see here is what is called a planetary proplyd, a strange name that describes a fantastic cosmic event. This one is located in the Orion Nebula. Look at it and think of us as we were, 4.5 billions ago. Yes, this is the beginning of an alien solar system. This is a rotating circumstellar disk of dense gas surrounding a young newly formed star located ~ 1,500 light years away. There is a good chance that planets will be formed there. Imagine the possibilities...
