❤️ Happy Earth Day, Earthlings! ❤️

Chris Hadfield (one of my personal favorite Astronauts) explains the Overview Effect. If there was a way to cause this awareness shift in more people, the appreciation for our unique and irreplaceable planet Earth would be greatly improved.

Chris Haddfield discusses the death of the Aral Sea. Not long ago it was the fourth largest sea of the world. Now he says it’s nothing more than “a stinking puddle.” He makes the point that we should require our representatives to protect the planet. The Sea of Aral is beyond the jurisdiction of our political leaders. Should we attempt to expand our jurisdiction to encompass failing environmental ecosystems? In other words, could we say, “Give it to us. We’ll keep it.” And then could we fix it and keep it going?

@ArturoS who is us?

@Lukian “Us” and “we” are environmental imperialists, willing to crusade or conquer to protect the environment.

It does seem that every astronaut that has spent time in orbit are fundamentally changed by that experience and become advocate for the environment. They have seen that earth is life in a bottle floating in the empty blackness of space.
