This is a 100% true story: So try not to laugh…
It was about this time of year over 50yrs ago, the wife had decided to have a go at making a Xmas cake just before Xmas, well it turned out to unbelievably heavy, so after the first slice, I made an excuse like I was too full up, but eventually she realized it would have been better to have used a recipe instead of guessing. She decided to give it to the birds and put it outside, interested in the results I watched from the settee through the french doors, A bully Blackbird took control and ate and ate until it was visibly larger, so to give the small birds a chance, I rapped the glass, Well it ran down the path flapping it’s wings desperately trying to take off but only managed to colloid with the hedgerow, it walked back and tried again with the same result, it cracked me up so much I fell off the settee laughing, as I imagined an obese guy on a micro-lite trying to cheat the laws of physics, at this point I was sworn to secrecy or World War 3 would follow, so I hope she doesn't find out…
