That is exactly who she is. Her parents had many healthy chicks and they all lived a happy life on my farm. My Maremma livestock guardians made sure that no coyotes ever molested them.

I cannot go a day without thinking about it and I still dream of being there. Fifteen years of taking care of hundreds of keeping everyone on the farm healthy and happy stays with you.

@OldGoat43 If only the local farmers would hold a regular BBQ where retired farmers could go to stay in touch. Round here farms very much stay in the family and retirees tend to stay in harness by helping out at planting and harvesting (we are predominantly a grains area with a few sheep). Another activity is the Men's Shed where men get together to use woodworking and metal tools supplied by government, computers, socialise free from women and particularly retirees reminisce with each other about the good and bad times of yesteryear.

@FrayedBear I'll try it out, thanks. Yes, a National BBQ might be a little to get together. Maybe smaller regional gatherings would be fun, in this day of website contacts it is even feasible. Perhaps the guys in the Men's Shed have done something like that?

@OldGoat43 I'm no longer involved with the Men's Shed but governments continue to throw money at them so they can say that they have done something for ageing men.
We also here in Australia have the University of the Third Age - U3A. I think that started in France.
