I have taken a liking to Salomon hiking shoes. For those here that hike which brand of shoes do you prefer?

I used to only wear Merrell, but I've since fallen in love with Keen.

Would that include boots?

@Shelton Okay, thought so. I would recommend this pair of boots- [workingperson.com]

The only down side for some would be the price, but then again you probably wouldn't need another pair of boots for a long time. Definitely the best pair of boots I've ever owned. They're technically a work boot, but still useful for those who like to hike often or go camping.

I have always been partial to my Gallibia boots, leather, full steel shank, Vibram sole totally rebuildable Italian boots. They need a little more care than synthetic boots but my are they comfortable.

@Shelton Nothing matches good leather boots well worth the extra money.

Lowa hiking boots are the best for me. They come in narrow size.

Here are my beloved Lowa boots with micro-spikes. I made the velcro straps to prevent losing them in snow.

I have used a bunch of brands, from Vasque to Raichle and Merrill to Timberland. I have found that they all wear out way too fast.
The Raichle Ravines lasted longest but they costs the most too. Solid, thick leather uppers and stitched lug soles make the difference.
A salesman once sold me a pair of Vasque Sundowners with a challenge to "show him what I can do to them". I brought them back less than a year later with the steel in the soles poking up through the boot. That salesman was no longer with the company and they did not honor the warranty. I bought the Ravines at a different store.

I am fine with low top footwear unless my pack is over 20 or so pounds, in which case ankle-covering boots are much preferred. That said, I have hiked overnights in Tevas too.

Posted by CallMeDaveI've never been a big wildflower person, but this is the season for it here in Appalachia. Other people can identify every variety. I'm not there yet.
