So any climbers in this group? Started climbing only recently but got totally enthusiastic about it - to the degree where I overdid it a bit and have to pause now because of an injury 😟

Yes, I am very interested but have aged out of most of it. At 60 with a bum hip and marginal lower back - I have to settle for hiking with a technical pitch here and there if I have a good lead climber with me.

I've climbed Rainier and Longs. Both on technical routes but neither was particularly tough. Rainier was a guided ice climb which was the final exam of my 10 day mountaineering course.

Yeah, I'm mostly retired but still get out occasionally. I started climbing here in the Southeast in the early 80's.
Be careful (bet you never hear that). What'd you hurt?

Lateral epicondylitis or tendonosis of the outer elbow tendon on one arm. Very frustrating and it could take months to get rid of that so I decided to get started with one-armed climbing.

Once I have thus ruined my other arm as well, I can still try to go no-hands:

@josmi6699 What a curious fellow. Hang Dog, as we used to say. When he can clip in with his feet I'll be impressed.

@BenPike I tend to get most impressed by people who do not feel the need to impress. Something that is unfortunately not uncommon among climbers who sometimes collect hard routes and high grades like trophies and pick the route where the move at the crux makes them look cooler. But going up a f6a ( I think that is 5.10b in the US) hands free is impressive on its own, even on a slab. I tried easier and failed. But I also found out how much fun it can be even if it may look ridiculous to onlookers!

@josmi6699 I've done some on boulders. Not roped. To me the guy sounded a little full of himself. Just my opinion.

@BenPike 🙂 🙂 🙂
