I think that it came from an early cold war myth, that there was a method in use, which did indeed involve emptying the brain of memories first, and then putting new ones back. We now know that is not possible of course, ( Because you die, among other things. ) but we are talking about a myth from the nineteen forties and fifties, and given the state of progress, that in medical terms, was only just out of the Stone Age compared to today.

Fernapple comments on Oct 31, 2022:
They say of course. "Only the winners get to write the history books." But sometime neutrals may write them too, so it could be true, that the bad guys, do more often lose, perhaps because they find it hard to win support, and easy to get opposition. Its possibly very complex.

I have had two of each, both the AZ and the F. and I found in both cases that there was almost no reaction to the first shot at all, but the second shot made me quite ill for a couple of days. Nun's confession. "It was not really about sex. It was research. It was just that sister Cathrine said, that you could always tell a real breast from one that had implants in it, just by the appearance. So we started watching to see if she could prove her case, and soon after sister Mary said that you could tell also tell a surgically enhanced penis as well, because they did not look natural. So we started looking a lot just to gather evidence and prove them wrong, and that is how we ran up all those hundreds of hours on the bishops account. Though he did say that he did not mind, because he was interested in medical matters too."

I'm going to discuss being dead for a moment.
Fernapple comments on Oct 27, 2022:
I am sorry to disagree, but I do not think that there is any such thing as death, or any such state as being dead. There is merely life, and when that life ends there is no life, that is all. Human culture invents many words for things that do not exist, ( Not just dragons and gods. ) in part because of misunderstanding the limited and fudged information our senses send us. Such as dark for example. There is no such thing as dark, only a absence of light, but our senses show us blackness to indicate the absence of light, so our cultures imagine that light must have an opposite, and we name it dark. Likewise cold is not the opposite of heat, but merely its absence, though our senses have evolved to make us avoid places where there is little heat. Because that makes our heat dissipate too fast and that is dangerous to us. So our cultures label our senses instruction with the name "cold", even though heat does not have an opposite. So it is that life does not have an opposite, merely an absence. We label the absence of life "death" as in part also as a convenient short cut, since it it shorter than saying. "Absence of life and the dissipation of our information content by entropy." But we should not confuse terminology with truth.

Why are pseudosciences so appealing? [onlysky.media]
Fernapple comments on Oct 15, 2022:
They, along with religions and folkloreism etc., also have specially appeal to the narcissist and their vanity. Because if you go with the mainstream thought and evidence based science, then you are no different from anyone else. Unless you really are smart enough to be a leader at the cutting edge. But for the fragile ego of the narcissist which can not endure the thought that they may be ordinary, let alone have the strength to lose, then they have to take a long odds bet against the evidence. Which is fine for the narcissist, but not so great of those who maybe deluded into following them. Sometimes, perhaps once in a million, evidence based thinking may get it wrong, and it may be true that putting feathers up your nose really can cure toe nail fungus. But when it comes to advising people about cures for their cancer, environmental breakdown and social problems like crime, then the narcissist's vanity project becomes a real danger.
I think prostitution is a soft form of rape.
Fernapple comments on Oct 14, 2022:
Sexual colonialism, as it is sometimes called, is certainly a form of rape. Though I am not sure that it applies to all prostitution, the one thing that you can always say about the human condition is that it is very diverse, and that almost every imaginable state of life you can imagine, almost certainly exists. There are certainly many female prostitutes who regard themselves as exploiters of men, that fact has been well documented by good anthropological studies. Though it is true, that it is probable that it is more common for the buyers to be the exploiters, taking advantage of economic differences. And at the same time though it is not a mutually exclusive thing, in that it is perfectly possible that both sides in a single transaction can both regard themselves as the exploiters. What however is certain is that, both the men and the few females, who buy the services of prostitutes are deluding themselves, by imagining that the act has anything to do with sex in a meaningful social sense. Any interaction between a client and a prostitute is in effect just a form of mastrubation, ( And a dangerous and expensive form. ) which does not involve any form of enhancement of the relationship, or equal mutual wishes to give pleasure, as most sex would, and usually has nothing to do with reproduction. Though were it does that last, it is certainly rape. Perhaps you can find some comfort in remembering that most of the women who your father boasted about exploiting, probably regarded him as a complete fool, behind his back at least.

Although if you are having another sleepless night, you may like to think about the why some dictators especially, like Hitler, Napoleon , Putin etc. often dress down and then surround themselves with brightly uniformed troops, could it be clever fake modesty, with a deliberate ironic twist "I alone don't need to dress up." or did they just get lazy ? Fernapple comments on Oct 12, 2022:
Of domestic animals, dogs of course. Though I do like cats as well. While if that seems boring, I am sorry, but the fact that both are commonplace creatures proves just how well they fit within human society, and fill human needs. And I long ago, came to think that the lust for novelty, was childish, with real importance, happiness and value being best found in appreciation of the commonplace. Birds, as the most attractive of the wild creatures I see in my own country every day. Though squirrels come a close second. And orangutans, as my bucket list creatures, who I would love to see one day. Because they are the underdogs of the great apes. Often in the shadow of the African apes, who get prominence just because those are more closely related to us. While in fact orangutans may be the most wise and intelligent of them all. It does not follow that being like humans means better.

Why Are Boys Underperforming So Badly In Education? - YouTube
Fernapple comments on Oct 3, 2022:
In the UK back in the nineteen sixties and seventies, boys used to outperform girls at school. Then it was decided that it needed to be balanced, and someone noticed that boys performed better in competitive environments and tests. So the methods of measuring success at school were changed from highly competitive tests, to a more general overall method of assessment, and it worked. Girls soon passed boys, so much so that they now do far better here too. So much of the ways in which schools are run and work assessed is completely artificial, that you can adjust the system to produce any results you want. If you want boys to do better just employ more male teachers as role models, and create a competitive environment, if you want girls to do better do the opposite.

Hello and welcome, enjoy the site. There are a number of possible Christs: a fictional persona in writing only, the name of a real person attached to a fictional persona, a collection of old borrowed stories (Some true some fictional and some mythical.) attached to one name, a real person given an distorted fictional history, a group of people and stories all merged under one name, a bit of all of the above, a metaphorical work of fiction intended as allegory , etc. And I have heard good cases made for all of them. But after all this time, and given the almost completely lack of any real evidence or consistency, among the accounts, anyone who pretends to know is just speculating wildly. Though I will admit that the idea that Roman political propaganda was part of the mix always seemed very likely.

According to IRIS. "On average, Magnitude 2 and smaller earthquakes occur several hundred times a day world wide. Major earthquakes, greater than magnitude 7, happen more than once per month. "Great earthquakes", magnitude 8 and higher, occur about once a year."

If it comes to it, try to impress on her that. A hysterectomy is today not the major operation it once was, it is quite a low impact operation, and it has few side effects with some small advantages for long term health. Millions of women today are walking around having had one, and nobody would even know.

Or tell him. To come and see me, and I will share with him my short list of about thirty or forty books which are quite good guides if taken as a whole. (His book did not make the top hundred. ) Also tell him. that I give no credit to anybody who has only read one book, especially if he is waving it in my face.
