It looks Art Deco to me. I can’t believe someone covered over that wood contrast. I’ll bet stripping the convex door panels was a chore. Looks ?
when I bought it, I was sure it was older. Didn't see the tag at first. The inside shelf and hanger bar had broken down so I got it pretty cheap. I repaired the inside when I stripped the outside. the doors were a total pain in the rear...but I'm pleased with the result. My plan had been to re- it, but I decided to hang on to it for a while.
To me it looks older too. Veneer was 30s and 40s mostly. That China Cupboard I had I think was Art Deco.
I love the wardrobe. It looks like veneer. I thought veneer was more 1940s, but I see your date. I had a china cupboard that was older. It was a waterfall pattern in veneer. I was trying to find the wardrobe for it and any other pieces. Then I decided to move. There was no room, so I sold it. I am like you, I love to see the wood grain. Great pictures.
