Was diagnosed 4 years ago, at age 45 (former Bestie figured it out a few years before, when we met).
I got the diagnosis to confirm the former Bestie's suspicions. Took 2 years for me to finally get into therapy, and got the diagnosis in about 6 months. Last October, the former Bestie cut ties with me, because I tend to not like being bossed around and having every aspect of my life ridiculed. I also found oit she deliberately got me dumped by a now-ex, JUST so I would go crawling back to her.....
How did you react to the diagnosis? My son was diagnosed at age 9 (aspergers had just officially gone on the autism scale so his official diagnosis is autism) and I jumped for joy because we finally had some answers and some goals for therapy. As an adult I think it would be a whole different experience to get a diagnosis.
I was in shock , never heard it I was totally in the dark I was depressed didn’t know what to expect how people would react how bad it could of been a whole lot I consumed and was mad as He— at you know whom if he existed (god)
As he grew I got wiser read a lot explored a lot about the word autism very tough times but we made it thru diagnosed at age 4 now he’s 30 and lives at home with me puberty was the worse time frame being non verbal we figured things out of what he wanted
Love him to the moon and back my heart

Posted by altschmerzI was diagnosed with autism by a psychologist after a day of testing, but my current therapist keeps saying she doesn't think I have it (or I'm a "little bit" autistic).
