Hi!

Software Engineer, home owner, and father of two amazing kids (with me 50% of the time. Weekdays during the school year and weekends during the Summer). I'm 5'10, for those that need to know such things.

I am honest and laid back. I value open communication. I enjoy going out, being active, or quiet time at home. I love music (mostly alt/indie/punk). I enjoy Sci Fi and comic stuff (Love Walking Dead, Dr.Who). I am liberal, atheist, agnostic, humanist, and open minded.

One of my bands covered this. Pretty sure it was a "b" side... Midnight Oil, Pictures ...

I don't remember this song, but I like it. I think the only album I had from Midnight Oil was Diesel and Dust. And yes, I bought it for Beds are Burning. :) Was this song before or after that?
I'm impressed with the logic. Although, it does make use of a few unproven assumptions:

I would like to be a fly on the wall in a history class 50 years from now, if some of this idiots comments actually make it into a history book.

I say as someone who is divorced, if you truly love each other, don't get married. ;) I'm sure your mom will keep bugging you. And I'm sure it will be annoying. But the bottom line for parents is to see their kids happy. So despite her beliefs, I'm sure she'll accept your decision as long as she can see that you're both happy.

mikecagain comments on Sep 10, 2018:
I like what you posted. I agree that the unexplained could be because of a god or whatever. But until there is evidence of god, that is still an unacceptable conclusion. Science is the practice of observation and measurement, in the search for explanations. But in the absence of explanations, you don't get to make up something to fill in the blanks. Science may not have all the answers. But until something has evidence it is simply left unexplained, nothing more than that.

mikecagain comments on Sep 7, 2018:
I don't believe in souls or soul mates. I believe relationships take work. And you try to find someone that makes the work worthwhile. And I know it's just a meme, but I'd love to see the scientific definition of "soul mate" to allow for the actual study of such a thing.

mikecagain comments on Sep 5, 2018:
Commmunicating through the Internet isn't easy. Emotions can be difficult to convey in plain text. More often than not, the emotion conveyed is what the reader reads into it, and not what the writer intended. And then there are all the online trolls who just enjoy being anonymously mean. Rereading a post is a good idea. Asking questions or asking for clarification when a post seems off to you is also helpful. On the flip side, communicating while hiding behind a computer screen is perfect for the socially shy. It can make it easier for people to express things they might otherwise be uncomfortable expressing. But it is easy to be misunderstood in this forum.

mikecagain comments on Sep 4, 2018:

You're entitled to your fair time with your daughter. Even if you're just hanging gout and don't have anything specific planned, you aren't obligated to give up your time with her just because her mother has decided that she wants to do something with her. It is still your time. She certainly can plan these things on her days with your daughter. On the other hand, it is good to try to be flexible and accomodating, for your daughter's sake. But that's on the understanding that if you give up time one day, she'll be willing to do the same for you another day.
