I chatted with an Egyptian atheist on FB. I have compassion for him. He does not dare come out of the atheist closet. His best friend came out atheist - told his relatives, friends and colleagues that he is atheist, and put his atheist views on FB. A group of bullies went to his house, kicked in the door, dragged him outside and beat him to death ... and here I think we got it bad in USA. We got our problems, but nothing quite like that, at least not very often.
That's heartbreaking. I just can't comprehend why humans kill each other over something like beliefs.

It was only about five years ago that a Pagan shop in Whitby was smashed and burned by a rampaging mob of Catholics after a fire and brimstone Sunday sermon from the "Father" on how allowing such demonology in to the quiet seaside town was corrupting their children irreparably.
This is Whitby a town who's major claim to fame is the local abbey, know across the world as Dracula's castle
It's both sad and disturbing how some people are able to use religion to justify that kind of action.
