We need to remind our American friends that their elections, and ours for that matter, are never decided on election day. There is a 20 day "hold" period in American elections before the vote becomes official. In Canada the results are not official until Elections Canada says they are and that takes time too. The American election is proceeding as it should with more of its safeguards in play than we are used to. That is the reason for inauguration day to be in January (it was originally in March) - time is allowed for re-counts, challenges, and so on.
What we are witnessing on our televisions is a group hissy fit from the media because they couldn't make their projections stick on election night. Even in elections that have more definitive results sooner, the numbers the media post are just their projections.
Now, please excuse me while get back to the CBC New Network to catch up on the election coverage.
