How long will the propane last? My gas portion of my utility bill in winter is at least $200 a month and more in the coldest months. We will hit below zero here at night on Thurs., but very little snow forecast and temps will be back up on Sunday.
We typically go through a tank and a half of propane, so between $1,500 and $2,000 per year and that includes a gas cooking stove and a gas water heater. We are a 5A on the climatic zone but I designed and built our 2,400 sq ft house as a passive solar design with super insulation.
@SnowyOwl I have natural gas. My furnace, water heater, and range are gas, but I don't cook much and as I live alone, heating the water is not a lot. I have had bills as high as $300 in the winter, but that is gas and electricity. I have lived in houses that used propane, and it cost more than natural gas.
We have lots of snow, -34C....wind chill -42C.
BRRR! Reminds me of living in Alberta back in the early 1990's.
@SnowyOwl Haven't had cold like this in years. Not used to it anymore.
Not a flake in sight here. +5 and raining right through til next week

Posted by SnowyOwlDefinitely a white xmas again this year. This year I think I will gift myself a fill up of our propane tank, that's a thousand bucks right there.
Posted by bookofmoronsAlways love to share this at Thanksgiving (Although Fiona stripped our fall foliage off so colours are few and far between this year . . sigh)

Posted by bookofmoronsheard that nonsense from the local and Ottawa tantrum convoy at least a dozen times. If you're gonna "overthrow the government", you should at least know which country you're in.

Posted by SnowyOwlSoon the occupiers who feel privileged will realize that privileges are not rights and hopefully leave and go home.
Posted by SnowyOwlIt's easy to believe that you are in the majority when you live in an echo chamber.
Posted by actofdogNinety percent of Canadian truckers are vaccinated so the ''freedom convoy'' is useless and has no end game, plus it is illegal now they only had a two day permit.
