My ancestors came to Canada with natives after the American revolution. It was inhumane to take the children away from their “heathen” parents to make good little Christians out of them. They destroyed a culture. Tax the church and let the money flow to aboriginal people.

I have been expecting this for a while. We've been having a debate on selling fighting vehicles to SA for a while now. We seem to think we should have a say in how these weapons are used. Folks don't like it when others meddle in their internal affairs especially hypocritically. We don't have much to say about the dreadful human rights records of, say, USA or Israel or any other number of "friendly" powers. Nor do we like it much when others stick their noses into our business. Indigenous abuse, seal hunts, tar sands come to mind. Finally, the Saudi closure of the Canadian embassy, while it had little justification, had way more the Canadian closure of the Iranian embassy a few years ago. Half-Wit Harper thought that the Iranians were demons. As our christian friends say, "He who lives by the sword dies by the sword."
