Went to Ottawa yesterday to be part of the swearing in of the First racialized MP as leader of a Canadian Political party. Every time I meet and talk with him, I come away feeling grateful and confident in his humanity taking precedence over everything else. Yesterday we presented him with a photo of the first elected member, Walter Pitman, for the New Party (NDP) sitting with the greatest Canadian, Tommie Douglas, father of our Medicare.

What does "racialized" mean. I'm not familiar with the term. I know that Jagmeet Singh is Sikh and of South Asian origin.

Sounds like code for not a white dude, some caucasians can really torture the language to avoid sounding politically incorrect.
@Surfpirate The suffix "...ize" or "...ise" means "to cause to become" or change as in "radicalise" or "normalize". Literally, "racialize" means to be made into a race. This makes no sense at all. Does PC have to be incomprehensible?
@amymcmxcii When one considers that there is only one race and it is the human race then the whole premise behind racializing anything falls apart but that's political correctness for you.
