An article by another of my favourite economists, Peter Radford. He looks at the intersect of economic theory and neurological science or even cognitive science. For those of you who enjoyed -- or didn't -- the recent debate here about debts being assets, this article clarifies the state of the art for economics since it is NOT a bone fide science with rules like physics and chemistry etc. I once debated an economist in my city who eventually capitulated by saying economics is an art not a science. My rejoinder to that was " ...so let's examine the entrails of chickens for predictions of the future." He left town after that. So how much credence and power should we give economists? Do they have too much already?
