Australia is on fire. There are just so many fires across the country. In NSW 700 homes have burnt to the ground and lives have been lost. I want you all to know how very grateful we Aussies are that Canadian firefighters have given up their christmas to come down here and help. [news.com.au]

That must've been very courageous in those days. My dad, is 86. Both are widowed and both very active and independent. They live two streets away from each other and dad goes up for dinner every night and they spend most of their time together. Only they could NEVER live together because they fight. Sometimes she tells him to GO HOME! I find this amusing because my parents never fought. I swear all this passionate arguing keeps them alive.

@MsDemeanour Yes, we do. We had a horrendous two years with the worst fire seasons on record, & you guys were right here to help. We [our whole city] were evacuated with our kitties for 18 days in 2017.
@Lilac-Jade 18 days was a long time. I'm guessing your house was saved. The worst part of these fires is they're usually lit by arsonists. (Perhaps that's where we and the English got 'arse' from).
Women from the Netherlands who make patchwork, have been making socks or mittens for the koalas with badly burnt feet.
Most people are good and kind. Unfortunately, they're not usually interested in going into politics.
@MsDemeanour Yes, arson seems to be such a big issue, & drought conditions & climate change are no help. The term arse is used here a lot too.
Yes, the poor koalas have been featured on our news, & its always the animals that suffer from human idiocy. Our farmers & ranchers have lost so many livestock, & the wildlife has really been hit hard.
Politics is too corrupted for most of the decent ones.
It is fantastic we can help and send fire fighters,,fighter fighters do a lot of unheard volunteer work on many fronts that are not recognized..Happy Canada can Help the Aussies i believe we have exchanged help before on many different fronts,,great to hear positive news for a change and be proud of it

I have lots of good friends from Newfoundland,,great people,,hope to get there and visit over the next year or two

Our newfies are fantastic loving people willing to give anyone in need a hand but the 911 tragedy was above and beyond. We have new foundlanders in all our communitys and are fantastic people and Oh they love to party
Several at my office are waiting for their call up.
Speaking with friends in Gosford NSW recently and they are very worried.
