All right. Voting is over for a bit. Time to take a look at the reasons to vote and the consequences of not participating? Any statements on either subject???

IMO - Alabama's electing a dem over roy moore presents a play book for other states with similarly structured voting supression rules. People went out and got folks registered. Helped get them the ID's they needed and then helped get them to the polling places. I think we all know what the state did 1. required picture ID, like you get at the DMV, then Alabama closed the DMV (saying it was a money saving thing) offices in low income, poor and black areas. 2. no expanded voting and limited polling places to vote.
Baby boomer apathy got us here so it is very important to VOTE!! Democracy is like any relationship it needs contant tending, the boomers just did not want to deal with the high maintance relationship that is democracy.
I am all for working together - the problem - IMO - the Civil Rights Act was signed into law and elected officials have worked hard ever since to divide this country. Newt, with his 'Contract with America' made it a hard fast rule that the gop would never work with the dems.
The divide and conquer political model has to end.

We need to get out and VOTE! And sign up for vote by mail to be sure your voice is heard. With vote by mail, you can get your ballot in early and don't have to worry about getting to the polls and long lines.

Here in Florida, the November ballot is going to be the longest ever with 16 very confusing and long constitutional amendment proposals as well as candidates for local and Federal offices from Senator to school board t judges.

Learn about the issues beforehand, get your ballot by mail and vote. Also, when your mail ballot is received, your name is removed from the lists of candidates and phone banks, so your phone will stop ringing all the time!

The number of eligible & registered voters who did not vote in the 2016 presidential election was about 45% - a record low.

I'm sure a lot of the reason many would-be democrats stayed home was Russian & Republican sponsored trolling & lies about Hillary Clinton and disappointed Bernie Sanders supporters.
So dtRumpf got a lot of help by default.

I am hoping the idealists who stubbornly refused to vote or went with third party candidates will never again allow the Koch brothers, 1%ers and Russian backed destructive oligarchy that has become the Republican Party have their way with our country.
