Looks like a good place to spend an afternoon and that is certainly one fine tree.

actually it's two trees. they're intertwined. different areas on the outside of the whole thing are different kinds of tree. a Mulberry has grown up inside of a Hackberry. it's a very old arrangement I don't know how old they are. I would say a minimum of a hundred years though. when the mulberries are ripe it seems to be the time for the Cedar Waxwings to fly through. a few times I've seen them up there. one of my favorite Birds.

@hankster We get them feeding on the mountain ash berries in the winter sometimes hundreds at a time.

@HeathenFarmer one time several years ago there was a storm and thousands came through drinking in the puddles after it was over.... looked like a dream.

@AMGT very very neat....right. ?

@AMGT I never heard of anything like that. perfect lemon for sweet tea. is that a kind of lemon or is that a hybrid of the tangerine and an Egyptian lemon?

@AMGT I wonder what a squirrel conversation would be like.

@AMGT hmm.. I'll keep my eyes peeled ?

@AMGT neat / tuned in sense to have.

Posted by FernappleI went for a walk in the woods today, and on a tiny oak tree, I found this wonderful cluster of, so called, Oak Apples.

Posted by sc62Day trip to the lake last weekend. I spent most of an afternoon next to this lily patch. It was such a nice, refreshing mini retreat.
