My best friend called last night, asking f I’d like to accompany her on a trip up to Santa Barbara today. She needed to stop by her college and return a couple books, so we decided to make a day of it.
I’ve never seen a college campus like this one, there were little waterfalls, peach and fig trees, chickens roosters and lizards..
There were Buddhist statues, where students left interesting offerings scattered around.
There were brightly colored flowers everywhere!
The temp was perfect, 72 degrees, much more comfortable than the mid 90’s at my house.
Then we sat on the beach a while, close to the marina. There were a couple seals playing close to the shore and sailboats drifting by.
We had lunch on State street then walked a while, taking in all the scents and colors of the fresh cut flowers and the veggies on offer at the farmers market.
No deep conversations, no drama, just my best pal and me, having an easy, slow day.
Appreciating.
Most mornings I wake up and my head immediately wants to tell me I can’t survive this pain.
Then I walk into the truth anyway, and wake up a little bit.
I am surviving.
I am.
I am grateful to have an abundance of loving humans in my life. You are all included in that.

@AMGT So sad. I hope he has found them! I wondered about the possible symbolism of the keys as well. What stories they might tell....

Posted by sc62Day trip to the lake last weekend. I spent most of an afternoon next to this lily patch. It was such a nice, refreshing mini retreat.
