Hey, foxes and coyotes got to eat somehow.
@Stevil Not here any wild turkeys that got released have ended up moving to town where they cause all kinds of trouble.
@Stevil In town about 30 miles from my farm a couple of my bow hunting friends got the idea to stock the bow range, an area about 320 acres in size with wild turkeys to bow hunt. The area was about 3 miles from town, come winter the 20 surviving turkeys moved to town where they breed and breed, soon there were over 200 turkeys living in the residential area in the town of Didsbury. They start acting like a gang of thugs attacking people, dogs and cats. They also attracted predators like coyotes and even cougars into the town to hunt the turkeys where they found the dogs and cats easier prey. The turkeys refused to leave the town in fact once they moved in no turkey was ever seen outside of the town again. The town, provincial wildlife and the RCMP order my friends Dale and John to remove all of the turkeys from the town or face huge fines, It took them 3 years to get them all mostly by hunting with blunt hardwood headed arrows and traps since the firing of guns or metal tipped arrows is forbidden within the town.
Dale has told me that he can no longer stand the sight of cooked turkey.
Posted by FernappleI went for a walk in the woods today, and on a tiny oak tree, I found this wonderful cluster of, so called, Oak Apples.

Posted by sc62Day trip to the lake last weekend. I spent most of an afternoon next to this lily patch. It was such a nice, refreshing mini retreat.
