I think they are on the way out. Two years go the church sealed the membership records for all but south America and Africa, which coincidentally are the only places in the world where the church is growing, the rumblings are that during the pandemic the numbers dropped off so far and so fast that the top table are scared to reveal just how tight money and member ship is now.
This is why they are consolidating what they have, gathering the sheaves and battening down the hatches.
Every week sees a hint or a policy that the church is trying to go more mainstream, the pearl of great price is going the same way as the Journal of Discourses and likely to stop being a standard work any time and the BOM is now being referred to in testimony no longer as simply true, but as the true word of god. A subtle difference but one paving the way to it going the same way as the Book of Abraham, who's teaching have been abandoned, as simply an inspired translation.
The whole work hard and get your own planet is being denied as never having been taught...as doctrine, just speculation, even thought it was and so is the "“As man now is, God once was: “As God now is, man may be.” is being claimed to have NEVER been a Mormon belief, even though it was.
Another 10 years and the LDS will be unrecognisable, and simply existing as a tax front for it man MANY business interests in order to claim tax exemption.

@LenHazell53 I've been out of it for so many years, I've forgotten most of the things about it, or never paid attention to start with. I never could buy into it all, & got out as soon as I worked up the nerve to tell my mother I wasn't going to church anymore.
