In reality, the harm comes from teaching them body shame. I realized how strong our cultural prohibition of nudity in front of kids is when I visited a family resort. A bunch of us nude adults were setting up a slip & slide. When a few pre-teen kids showed up I momentarily wondered if I should get covered. Seeing that no one else was doing so, I asked someone about it - creating a good laugh. Those kids live at the resort full time and see nothing but naked bodies all the time. I was the one bringing cultural baggage to the situation.

Those who have studied it say that it is the reactions of adults to children seeing nudity that is mor eharmful than actual viewing of nudity itself.
