Being closer to danger is being closer to harm. When someone says, "hold my beer and watch this": you don't get closer to that person.

If you kind of ignore everyone else and keep to yourself, you should be ok. The crowd is so large it's almost impersonal.

Sounds pretty cool. If it's something you want to do, just keep yourself grounded and give yourself permission to leave or just go off by yourself for a bit if you need to. It's the best way I know to handle big events.

Some part of you wants to go. Introspect on why that is. If it is a positive value to you, then embrace it an enjoy yourself out there! You never know, you could end up liking it.

You speak true. It's quite an impressive event. Moving even. So many people gathered to pay respects to the memories of things lost. And there's lots a places one can just sit and watch and not be a part of the throng of celebrants marching
