Just an update on my trip to Ohio. At least 35+ members of my D in Law's family. Never met one of them before.
Actually have to admit the anticipation was far worse than the reality.
Very nice friendly folks that tried to include me. I was able to find a TV with a football game and chatted with a couple of guys about the game. Without the football to focus talking about, it would have been much worse.
If there is a specific topic to discuss, I have no problem joining in. It is the aimless "Small Talk" where I am lost. My brain freezes and I have no idea what to say.
When facing an unwanted social situation, I often find the anticipation of a bad time gives way to actually having a good time.
But I still dread the next social interaction.
