Having grown up in Central PA, I have always had animals around me and appreciated them. A year ago we move to SW FL, and the wildlife here is amazing. I ride bicycle 4 or 5 times a week, 20 +/- miles a day, and the animals I encounter keep me alert. In addition to the normal water birds - egrets, herons, etc, I have seen ibises, wood storks, kites, bald eagles, and even a caracara. Then there's the deer, including one doe with a fawn who seems to have taken a liking to me (I talk to most of the critters I meet) - turkeys, otters, snakes of all kinds, and even a little lizard who I surprised to the point he ran on his hind legs to escape me. I have yet to come across a panther, we have one in our area, or a bear, but I assume that too will happen. Critters put me in my happy place.

I understand completely. The wildlife was one of the perks of walking to work in Yellowknife. Foxes and bears were the best. The ravens were Hitchcock scary.
