So, I'm not doing Keto, but am Keto friendly and can see the benefits of cutting out sugars and carbs to the extreme level you do on Keto, even if I won't get into ketosis. I am experimenting with making Flackers. I like the recipe that includes chia seeds. The base recipe is 1 cup water, 1 cup flax seed and 3 tbsp chia seeds. Let it soak for 15-20 minutes then bake at 200 for 90 minutes, flip and bake for 90 more.
My question is, isn't the soak supposed to make the flax seeds easier to chew? Break the hull down? It's been 20 minutes and I sampled them, and it's like eating raw damp flax seeds with chia seed goo. I feel like I need to add another half cup of water and soak at least another 20 minutes, but since this is such a strange recipe for me, even though it's simple, I thought I'd ask here before I ruin a cup of flax seed for no good reason.

I make crackers from flax seeds but I use this recipe...requiring an overnight soak, basically...love them with cheese...further down in the comments someone added chia seeds, which I have done as well, but I don't like tiny seeds because they get stuck in my teeth!

These come put crunchy, not chewy...just like a pretzel thin...I buy flax seeds in bulk at our grocery store or Aldi.
