Why post this here?

Why not?

@Melbates I didn't say your shouldn't have. I was wondering about the connection between your blog and high IQ.

@Stephanie99 Because high IQ and mental illness sometimes, seemingly, go hand in hand.

@Melbates Do you have any evidence for that comment? I don't think that there is any.

@Stephanie99 Your IQ must not be that high if you couldn't Google this yourself.

[independent.co.uk]

@Melbates Snarky. Read the study. I was already aware of it. They had a small response rate of 10% of the MENSA members who they solicited. The study was based on self reporting. It's hardly solid evidence.

@Stephanie99 then prove me wrong.

@Melbates The proof is on the person making the claim.

@Stephanie99 I've shown my proof. You dispute that proof. Ball is in your court.

@Melbates I showed you why your proof wasn't proof. You would need to provide actual proof if you want me to debate further.

@Melbates Here is a study by the World Health Organization about risk factors for mental illness: [who.int]
High IQ not identified.

@Stephanie99 never said high IQ was a risk factor. Only that those with high IQ are prone to mental illness.

Is there an underlying reason you're arguing so hard? Are you afraid you have your own mental illness?

@Melbates That makes me laugh. No, it's because I'm a proponent and teacher of critical thinking.

@Stephanie99 seems more like you're an internet troll.

@Melbates Please . We're not interested in being rude or throwing insultes here . We most certainly get enough of that on the outside . I did click on the link in your original statement , and it did not come up . There may be some kind of mechanical or coding problem . When I brought up one of your other links , it did say that the highly intelligent seemed to have some mental problems . I'd suggest , having lived with the HiIQ , that you would think it would be something that would be respected , a desirable trait . It isn't . It seems as if being an idiot , gets more respect than being intelligent . People seem to feel that , because you are smart , they have to prove that they are , " better , " than you . It's as if they feel they have been challenged , and if they think they can't measure up , then they have to cut you down to size . Weird , huh ?

@Cast1es Not throwing insults. Being very insulted, though.

@Melbates I'm sorry that you feel insulted. It wasn't my intent.

@Stephanie99 The WHO ,"proof," specifically states it is a discussion paper and is NOT the official position of WHO . While scanning through it , the closest comment to any connection between High IQ and mental health or lack thereof that I found , was an indirect comment about social exclusion . In school , High IQ students , do not , "fit in ," with kids their own age , nor do they fit in with older kids . So there is indeed some social exclusion , related to High IQ . By extension , the WHO paper suggests that social exclusion may be related to mental disorder . Not a very firm connection and it most certainly does not say that High IQ and mental disorders are specifically connected .

@Cast1es I did say up there that WHO did not identify high IQ as a risk factor for mental illness. Thanks.
