I love Chris De Burgh. Not really known for protest but a powerful song-writer. Try this guy on for size as well

Meh - not really to my taste
@pixiedust Many people's first impression, but I am a lyricist, and this mans songs were inspired, and very funny! He still has a large cult following. He died in the 90s.
@fishline79 Yes, his lyrics were quite clever as was the story.
