I disagree with this statement somewhat. Although it's clear that Atheism is not a religion, I do think there's ample evidence to suggest that humans have this innate basic framework embedded in our brains that naturally leads us to the belief that we're separate from the rest of nature, that we're special. Belief in some kind of god, or soul, or mind, or what have you is just a direct expression of this framework. I think there most likely is a biological basis for belief in the supernatural and that's why non-belief in this area does benefit from its own term. I think the term Atheism allows us to identify each other that we're able to think over the very lie that our brains often leads us to. It is no wonder, even today, that atheism is still in the minority.
