Rahu ate the sun but scientists still scrutinized Solar Eclipse 2017. Lots of speed hot stuff.

One of the things NASA tries to do is combine indigenous folk lore with critical science so we work with groups that understand indigenous populations.

I traveled to SC to witness totality for the first time in my life. It was A_W_E_S_O_M_E!! Can't wait for 2024.

So glad you got to see it! There in an annular in the US in 2023.

@AstroLou Not sure I'll make it for that one... Totality was so great though.

@AstroLou I have a great video that also shows shadows bans before and after the event. Also, we had a big cumulus clouds appear 30min b4 totality but vanish 25 min after because of the cooling effect of the penumbra. All on video!

@DeeTee not really. I wouldn’t know how to do that anonymously. Let me think about it.

@DeeTee I'm still thinking about posting the video anonymously but I can share this pic. What you see is the sunlight passing through a tree but since the sun is nearly covered by the moon, the light specks are all sickle. Another cool thing about the eclipse.

Posted by starwatcher-alSolar minimum was in 2019 so the sun is ramping up in flares, spots and prominences.

Posted by starwatcher-alI missed the early phases of the eclipse but the clouds mostly left during totality. All in all a great eclipse. Next one is Nov. 8-22
