Not exactly a pretty bird, but he can fly like a pterodactyl.
My male Muscovy ducks would fly up into tall trees to roost at night. When they flew bye within twenty feet of you it sounded like a giant albatross flapping ten foot wings. This guy in the photo weighed over twenty five pounds and stood three feet tall.

Unfortunately, they're rapidly moving many shyer, native waterbird species closer to extinction.
They're considered a "pest species" here in Florida - and the wildlife people will come and get them and either "snuff" them or "relocate" them ( I hear they're fatty, and greasy, but tasty). Texas also has put them on the "pest" list.

In upstate New York I could sell my Muscovy ducks for $5 per pound live weight. They were always in demand for the other ethnic kitchens, not mine. I started with six, given to me by a dairy farmer who wanted them out of his barn quick. Within a year they multiplied to over 75, then 250.
@OldGoat43 Not surprised....and now a good way for you to make some $$...if what you say about the $5 a pound sale price is even close to accurate! Good luck! Keep us/me posted!
@Robecology . I don't have the farm any longer. The state of N.Y. taxed me out of existence when the rich city folk wanted quiet country estates. Who needs farms anyway?
@OldGoat43 So Can I assume you got rich from selling those 250 Muscovy's? Please don't tell me you let them all survive?

On Brook Glen Farm I raised Maremma Livestock Guardian dogs, Muscovy Ducks, Boer Breeder Goats, meat chickens and eggs, organic vegetables for farmers markets, veggie garden seedlings and marijuana. I also owned 31 apartments in Binghamton New York, 95 acres of woodland for firewood, and three houses. I was busy. Now I'm retired full time.

The females were really pretty, some had blue eyes. They could fly more gracefully than the males.
@OldGoat43 Birds are all beautiful in flight, but some colouring is more attractive than others.
