A family of Canada Geese joined me while fly fishing the Arkansas River this weekend. I have been watching this gaggle over the last few weeks and the goslings are really getting big! Holding their heads in the tall grass.

I had perhaps my most successful day of fly fishing on any river, anywhere. Approx 17 brown trout netted and released. Including 2 or 3 very large and fat ones. Way larger than I thought was available in this stretch if river. A very good day.
@MrLink you don't keep any for eating?
@FrayedBear no, never. The only exception is if I'm camping at a high altitude lake, and then maybe a couple small ones for roasting over a campfire. But not if I'm fishing for recreation. If every fly Fisherman did that we would destroy our populations. I want these trout populations thriving.
@MrLink Our local fisheries restock the lakes regularly because they are trying to promote fishing and tourism as well as enhance stocks.

I was pleased to see that you enjoyed the geese. These prolific birds were once endangered. It always perplexes me that humans change the environment & then complain when creatures find it to there liking. Such as gulf courses. Attractive to Canadian geese. Then there are the sharks & alligators that "infest" waters. It's their habitat for goodness sakes. We are the infestation. Viruses with shoes. Per Bill Hicks.

I love waterfowl of all kinds. Admittedly i don't want to step in their shit at the city park, but...
Geese have really become a nuisance in Northern Colorado.

@FrayedBear Sure thing. My point is that any animal, humans included, can be messy. It is all about perspective.
