Hummingbirds drink their weight in nectar every day. An average Ruby-Throated hummingbird weighs around 3.5 grams. One cup of water weighs 236.59 grams. To be conservative, let's say they're all fat little 4 gram birds, and we'll ignore the fact that they have other sources of nectar besides my feeders.
I'm cooking more than eight cups of nectar every day right now to replenish my three feeders. That's just over 1,892 grams. So I think a very conservative estimate would be that I'm feeding a herd of more than 473 hummers!
No wonder my feeders are frequently mob scenes.

Insignificant, I would think. Plus, I'm being very conservative. I'm probably cooking ten cups per day, but I only calculated based on eight. That's how much I make at a time.
