My wife works at the Greer Library so I went up so we could take some pictures after work. I got a few while she was still at work.

My wife and I both got into birds when she started using my camera so much that I couldn't use it anymore. I bought her one like mine a Nikon 7200 and I bought myself a Tamron 18-400 mm. Later I splurged and got myself a Tamron 150-600 and gave her the Tamron 18-400. She's getting as many keepers as I do with the 150-600 but we're both happy with what we have. These were all with my new lens.

Is that a house sparrow in the cedar/pine? That should be made into a Christmas card. What is the black and yellow finch? I am not familiar with it.

I believe that it is a House Finch and the other is a Lesser Goldfinch. That little spruce is about 30 feet behind the building and I've gotten quite a few shots by sitting on the electrical box and shooting away. Those cones sure last a long time as I've gotten pictures there in winter also and I guess even though it's May it would work for a Christmas card. Thanks.

Wow! Good area for birding.

Then again my backyard has been crazy good this year. I can't complain.

It's really been good around here also but on the other hand we just started with bird photography and I can't really compare it to past years.

@gearl Even the seasoned birders have been excited this year. I think it's been unusual in the abundance of various sitings. I know I've been birding (to some degree) since I was 5 years old in this area - and I've been "Wow! Look at that!" on a fairly regular basis.

You look like you have a great area for birding though. 😀
