My son asked me to paint a mural on his bedroom, it needed to include: a bear, a volcano, a waterfall, and a fox. It took me a long time to finalize, this was my first time painting with acrylic and on a wall.
His room is rectangular. I painted from a window to the closet on opposite side. So one small wall plus two halves of the long sides got a mural.
The rest was painted a light green.
The ceiling has a light blue with clouds painted on it. We hung planets and stars that glow in the dark.
I'm glad he loves and hasn't gotten tired of it.

That looks great!! Vibrant colors but still peaceful. How do you prepare latex paint for acrylics? I need to do that for someone.

I'll send you a private msg

Never mind, I guess I can't msg you. ??
I used big acrylic tubes, mainly primary colors and a few already mixed green tones (since I needed so many green shades). However, I learned at some point that you can just but regular latex paint of red, blue, yellow, white and black from your local home improvement store and mix the way you want it.
I also used a lot of water on my brush to run the acrylic paint on large areas. It gave a translucent effect, which was helpful for the water area.
I did prime some small areas and I actually found to be unhelpful
Go to youtube and search for muraljoe. The guy is great at explaining his colors and how he achieve tones (skin, trees, serenity, etc) look at his paint buckets.

Nice! My husband and I have done large scale mural paintings so I know the work you put into this! What a lucky son! I laughed that he wanted a volcano...

We went to the big island a few years ago. We actually visited the one that's active right now. I think it impressed him. ?

That is great, your son should really like it, is it possible for him to add to the scene as he wishes?

Yes it is. We can add boat on the river, someone fishing, more animals. Many possibilities ?

Wow . That's very nice and Mommy did it , so even more meaningful for him . Bravo !?

Really nice! I am hoping one of the artists here gets tired of the white walls in the bathrooms here..😉

Hathacat Level 9 Sep 6, 2018

A hint to whom?

@Zoohome Any of them. I don't paint, and all the other galleries have cool bathrooms! I have, gasp, Bathroom Envy!!!
