This drawing was of a special forces soldier that was KIA in Afghanistan. I was commissioned by his father to draw this from a very badly degraded photo which made it a big challenge. It was their only photo they had of him. They had attempted to have another artist do it for them with poor results. It was to be given to his grandchildren, the dead soldiers children, for Christmas. I put about 75 hours into it because of its size, at the time it was the largest one I had done.
Such a gift: to make it real and to give it freely. So moving.
Well it wasnt completely freely given, lol. He insisted on paying me so I charged him $50.00 for it.
