My first vote for POTUS was Dwight Eisenhower and it's been all Repubs for POTUS since.

My 1st and 2nd (‘52 & ‘56) votes were for Ike. Only later did I learn he okayed the CIA’s overthrow in Iran). With the Birchers expelling or having expelled moderate Repubs, my 3rd through 6th (‘60-‘76) were for Dems. I worked in John Anderson’s 1980 primary campaign and my 7th vote was for Carter. When the GOP invited the evangelical xians WITHOUT FIRST COUNTING THEM, I resolved to not vote Republican until they leave. They haven’t left.

It should be noted that Ike had a tax rate that helped build the nation's infrastructure and it was a time of a strong middle class. Reagan helped gut that and his policies began the destruction of the middle class. Ironically, Reagan and Nixon would be considered too liberal for many of today's conservative hardliners.

Welcome. For ten years I was an unregistered voter and was in libertarian limbo. A few years ago I registered Republican to vote for Trump. I launched Republican Atheists because I am tired of atheist groups ignoring atheist Republicans and atheist conservatives, and want the public to know we exist.

Thank Glob we finally have "Godless greed is good" group.

In the rise of the Third Reich, the industrialists were convinced they could use the National Socialists as a bulwark against the communists, and the National Socialists were determined to use the industrialists to acheive their own ends (albiet for a somewhat shorter time than the thousand years predicted).

I fear at some point you'll encounter a similar rude awakening as religious irrationalists enact some mind blowing bullshit based on their certanty of acting as proxies for their invisible buddy. Trump is, as they insist, ordained by god himself to be president. What could possibly go wrong?

I have more respect for the anti-abortion wing of the left.

@WilliamCharles US atheists continue to be in a bubble where they think Christianity is the threat. Look around the world, and in Europe, and see Islam is a growing concern.

@repubatheists Look around yourself. Christians are murdering more Muslims today than the other way round. And it was Christians at the forefront of that previous Holocaust unpleasantness, with blessings from the RCC no less. They're also big boosters for the murders committed by Chosenite land theives in Palestine.

@repubatheists At least you haven't tried to defend Gooper economic policy... that trickle down blarney. At least... not yet.

@WilliamCharles Christians have been purged from the Middle East for centuries. Not long ago Lebanon was an advanced Christian-majority country that allowed Muslims to enter to access it's infrastructure, now it's a failing Muslim majority country where Christians are targeted regularly. Even Europe is less of a safe haven for Christians as the Muslim population has increased and has become an outspoken group that has challenged Christians seeking asylum. Atheist Communist countries have purged religious groups as well and have killed millions. Sure you may not have a problem being atheist in a communist country but you will have a problem with the state controlling everything you think or say. You are fortunate to be in a Christian majority country where you can be an outspoken atheist.

@repubatheists I'm fortunate that the founders separated church and stste though god-botherers are trying to roll that back. There's even a Dominionist strain that want to impose Christian Sharia essentially. Palestine had their respective religions living in peace until the Zionists invaders destroyed that harmony. They're also murdering Palestinian Christians. Do you speak up for those Christians?

@WilliamCharles You are fortunate to live in a Christian majority country. Europe is a sign of what lies in the future when Christianity loses influence - countries will become communistic and bow to Islam.

I take note that Palestine is a territory that is managed by terrorist groups who themselves oppress Palestinians and squander aid that is provided by foreign outlets. There are Muslims living in Israel, including Palestinian Muslims. There is even a Palestinian in public office in Israel. Each side has their faults, but I am not going to side with a territory managed by terrorists and squanders aid. Increasing numbers of people are seeking refuge in Israel as they are purged from surrounding countries.

@repubatheists

"During Trump’s speech at the CIA right after his inauguration, he expressed the same bewilderment. “Radical Islamic terrorism,” pondered Trump. “This is something nobody can even understand.”

John F. Kelly, now Trump’s head of the Department of Homeland Security, is similarly perplexed, saying in a 2013 speech that “I don’t know why they hate us, and I frankly don’t care, but they do hate us and are driven irrationally to our destruction.”

Say what you want about the tenets of this worldview, but at least it’s an internally consistent ethos: We’re surrounded by lunatics who want to murder us for reasons that are totally inscrutable to rational people like us but … obviously have something to do with them being Muslims.

Meanwhile, in private, the non-crazy members of the U.S. foreign policy establishment aren’t confused at all. They understand quite well that Islamist terrorism is almost wholly blowback from the foreign policy they’ve designed."

@repubatheists why can't we be like the nordic states and have secularism and freedom?

@Stuttrboy What "freedom" in Nordic countries are you talking about?

@repubatheists as opposed to the communist secular states. What freedoms do they lack?

@Stuttrboy Are you based in the US? I'm not understanding why you are saying why can't "we" be like the Nordic states.

@repubatheists I'm in the US. I was responding to your statement that communists are secular states but don't have freedom and we are lucky to live in a Christian country and I was asking why can't we be secular and free like the Nordic states.

Your quote
"Atheist Communist countries have purged religious groups as well and have killed millions. @Stuttrboy US is secular. It has actually been secular longer than Sweden. The Church of Sweden and the Swedish government were combined until year 2000. US just happens to have a Christian majority population, and it wasn't that long ago that Sweden was also Christian majority.

@repubatheists secular as in the majority of the country is secular. Atheists are still considered less trustworthy than rapists here.

@Stuttrboy The religious populations change over time, but US is a secular country.

Eisenhower was the LAST true republican.
Every single one since has been a conservative corporate stooge.
The GOP has allowed itself to be hijacked by the christian right.

Loved that Nixon created departments like OSHA and the EPA.

@WilliamCharles He was doing all right with those. He fucked himself with Vietnam and Watergate.

@KKGator He didn't create them by his own choice. He was pressured by public activism.

@WilliamCharles At least he did it.

@KKGator Absolutely. Just a reminder to all of us to keep up the pressure.
