I went out in the desert this afternoon to look for flowers and practice social distance (600 feet minimum). Secondary goal, not get stuck...ok, that one didn't work.

The desert flowers are so different than others. The pink ones look like they are made with magenta ribbons. Looks like you found a desert sea urchin next to.your foot. All great shots, cactus with flowers has a nice contrast

Chaicsn Fruit Cholla (Jumping Cactus) primary mode of reproduction is to break off small pieces of catus which are carried off and sprout new plants. It is hard to avoid getting those stuck on your feet or legs. I was lucky, it did not penetrate my shoe.

@GeorgeRocheleau Wow, Is that picture for real?

I believe so. I usually only get them one at a time, but I have heard of people falling on a jumping cactus.

Really beautiful flowers. Must have had a recent rain.

We had a lot of rain in the winter, but very little rain in the last month.

Desert flowers are so radiant! Yes, I think that is the perfect description

In the race to make seeds, they don't want to miss any opportunity.

@GeorgeRocheleau They are sticking to the plan, for sure.

Posted by CallMeDaveI've never been a big wildflower person, but this is the season for it here in Appalachia. Other people can identify every variety. I'm not there yet.
