Not much left of an old 1800 community.
All the way on the back end of the farm and where there's another farm. there was a small 1800 community, and the only thing I can find now is the old rock cellar built into the side of the hill, an old rock wall, and a graveyard, I only seen the graveyard once riding horseback, and I haven't found it again, but I also haven't tried too hard. My son-in-law was riding my fourwheeler today so I told him where the rock wall was and the cellar and ask him to take pictures. He only took pictures of the cellar and was afraid to go inside. and he couldn't find the rock wall. I'll go back in a few days and take some more pictures and share them with you. This is all I have right now.
I used to find cellar holes in the woods behind my home in MA.
It's very cool!
Yes, those were built by aliens, giants, the lost tribe, or an advanced prehistoric civilization; depending on who you ask.
I've also heard that they were colonial era spring houses. That makes more sense, but it's not nearly as interesting as the other theories.
@JimG Actually we found cellar holes! But this is interesting! Thanks.
We also discovered what had been a trash heap behind our home in the woods - with all kinds of bottles going back about 100 years. Few intact - but fun for us as kids thinking we were going to make a mint!
The woods behind my home aren't old growth - at one point they were farmland as proved by all the stone walls even an hour into walking out there. So not ancient history - but fun nonetheless.

Posted by CallMeDaveI've never been a big wildflower person, but this is the season for it here in Appalachia. Other people can identify every variety. I'm not there yet.
