Some of my Washington memories

How many Heather Lakes are there in WA? I have a Wash. atlas and there are so many lakes some only have numbers. One of the most popular lakes in the state is Lake Crescent [exotichikes.com]

WA State has two lakes called Heather Lake, and several called Twin Lake. Lost Lake is another common lake name.

Been to lake crescent... ever heard of the legend of the soap woman

@Phin That as in Soap Lake. Woman as killed by her husband who tied her to a rock and dumped her in the lake. Years later the rope broke and the woman's body had been turned to soap because of the minerals in the lake and she floated to the surface. hat's when they got the husband. There is also a story about Lake Crescent. A couple during the depression disappeared and the kids had to go into an orphanage (or in foster care). Years later their truck was found (they had bought an appliance that as still on the truck) in the water. They had missed a bend in the road and gone into the lake.

Beautiful!

Is this Heather Lake in Eastern Washington?

We found red garnets in Heather Lake near Lake Wenatchee, WA. The unpolished red garnets in the were found by my hiking partner, Karen.

Posted by CallMeDaveI've never been a big wildflower person, but this is the season for it here in Appalachia. Other people can identify every variety. I'm not there yet.
