At this point, Torvalds has had at least as big an impact on the technology world as Gates or Jobs... and most people don't even recognize his name.
Linux is not marketed in the same manner the others are. Has to do with the fact that people do not believe things that are free are worth anything. Most cannot imagine another way to program and make money. Even the big Linux Companies do not fair well. Much is used for things that are behind the screen. Personally I do not like the other operating systems Windows and OsX or Mac all take to long and cost to much, and they do not work that well.
