I noticed today that a programmer has finally adapted the great Open Source alternative to Microsoft's Office to use on the Android phones.
Having been a devotee and ardent user of Open Office since 2002 on Windows I'm delighted to see the Android version AndrOffice.
Now I can kick off a lot of the bloatware including Microsoft.
Here is a brief from.Google on the app.:

I can't really say I'd be looking forward to having office tools on my phone. I have an office where a lot of that stuff already happens. When I leave there I have no desire to take it with me, on my phone. Of course I'm old and obviously not in tune with how cool all of this probably is to the new guard.
My office is now my top pocket.
@FrayedBear It must be fantastically liberating to know you have it all at your fingertips, at any time, day or night...and to have really good eyes.
So how does one get this program or app on ones device??
@Razorjelly Google play store or whatever its called. Free download. Don't forget the extras like dictionary, fonts and pdf tools. Eventually I imagine that pro forma documents and the myriad goodies available for the desktop version will become available.
I know that in the main I will be using much simpler editing tools. The Google email phone app now allows limited font formatting (bold, italics, colour of letters, highlight colour) together with one or two other niceties like your emails. It is then just a copy and paste or share of selected text to whatever you are doing ... Like Agnostics.com ?
@Razorjelly being shortsighted I frequently remove my spectacles in order to read the screen 10" from my eyes.
@Razorjelly Another simple writer is Pure Writer which also claims to never lose your data and has a couple of simple features including never losing your data and being able to set up one keystroke entries for frequently used writing such as address, phone number, acronyms in full or part, salutations etc.
@FrayedBear - guess I could give it a spin. Thanks!
@Razorjelly The open office I doubt I will ever use more than 5% of its capability but I am in awe of it just as I was 16 years ago when it was released to challenge Microsoft's Office.
The other editing (Pure Writer) program I had another try of tonight and was very pleased with it's simplicity and couple of extra features particularly as it is only a few megabytes in size.
Posted by FrayedBearAnyone using Android 12? Are you having problems with the Gmail app no longer working along with the PlayStore?
Posted by ScubaWagsWow, Windows 11 will have tiling windows. No one has ever done that before...
Posted by ScubaWagsThis made me giggle
Posted by OldMetalHeadThis is quite interesting. I knew Ubuntu would be high, but I honestly didn't expect it to be that high.
Posted by ScubaWagsApparently it's penguin awareness day today... I assume that must include Tux
