I have been sort of estranged from my family for a while.
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 12, 2018:
I never "came out" & make it very clear that my beliefs & my "relationship with god" (insert sigh & eye roll) are my own & no one else's business. When asked why I don't attend church, I say "sorry, I was busy practicing witchcraft & becoming a lesbian" then laugh at their shocked expression & say, "not really, I just choose not to be like the pharisees & sadducees" & keep it moving. Try to get an itinerary & skip the service (had to see a man about a dog) & show up for the food. Be sure to have a list of topics to switch to when bible stuff comes up...like, "speaking of Jesus, when do you think the christian congressfolk in DC are going to start taking care of the poor, like jesus did? Think they will pass those christian bills to provide free healthcare to the sick & needy, like jesus did? Think they will at least take care of the little children? Pretty sure jesus didnt mean for the nation to neglect kids till they died as a way to let the come unto" Jesus." (Or maybe not. I'm not invited to family things anymore so my sarcastically honest ass is not the best example.)
What is the greatest joy in your life?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 12, 2018:
My 3, almost 4 yr old grandson. He falls on yhe autism spectrum & isn't huggy/cuddly/lovey like my other grandkids. He has made me look at showing emotion differently. He will run up & hold hands & make eye contact...or when I walk in, he grabs both my hands & wants me to jump around. His giggle slays me. He shows he wants me around but can't keep that constant contact. He cuddles when he feels bad or is sleepy & wants a book. Yes, its tough but I try to meet him where he is & its so worth it.
Women, are we being too picky about the men we date?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 11, 2018:
I tell guys I don't date guys who drink, & make it clear I'm not interested in being around alcohol or consuming it. 1 guy said great, he was a "former alcoholic" (red flag) & didn't drink. We go out to dinner & he has his 3rd highball delivered with his entree. When I said "I though you don't drink" the response was, "not like I used to". I'm up front that I have limited free time & will make time for him but I need to plan things in advance...3 days minimum. (I have an old dog, I raise chickens & my commute to work is an hour 1 way...planning.) so his response, "yeah thats great" then "hey, its the middle of the week & I know you have to be up at 5am but there is salsa dancing tonight beginning at 9pm, I thought we could go. You can go home, do your stuff, then drive an hour back.. . " no consideration. The latest guy thought it would be fun to see how far he could push me with a lot of passive aggressive comments, totally ignoring what I said about a night out & then had to make snarky comments about how I eat (I have food allergies). And everyone wonders why I set up meet-n-greets at bookstores with coffee shops. If he doesn't show, its still a good night out.
How long has it been?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 11, 2018:
Last date was 11/13/17. We dated for 6 months or so. His facade slipped & showed the real person. Yeah, not interested in a bunch of insecurity, backhanded compliments, attempted pot stirring & outright dumb shit. (Example: went to a show mid work week. A month in advance of show, he offered to get a room for the night. I said no, had court/meetings next day, had to be in at 7am. Night of he asked if we were going to room after. I said no. His response, "well let me cancel the reservation".)
What makes a relationship last?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 8, 2018:
Common courtesy. The little "every day things". "I'm going to the kitchen. Did you want another drink?" "I'm at the market. Need anything?" "I was out & found your favorite juice." " you said you needed new dress shirts a couple of weeks ago so i picked you up a few " "Thank you for letting me use your car. I topped off the tank & vac'd it out"
Are you here for friends, relationship, or just hookups?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 8, 2018:
I'm here for the conversation & the chance of making friends. If it works out to meeting & maybe something more, that would be good too .
How important is sexual chemistry in a relationship?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 7, 2018:
Pretty important if the relationship is supposed to be an intimate, living, "romantic" one. Dated a guy, really nice guy, smart, hard working, great conversationalist. Wasn't sure how I felt romantically, but things were progressing & I was feeling warmer towards him....then he kissed me. Nothing wrong with his technique but was the flattest, most unexciting thing to ever happen to me. Was the literal kiss of death to that relationship. Zero chemistry.
If you could teach everyone in the world one concept, what concept would have the biggest positive ...
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 7, 2018:
Don't be a dick.
In the future it may be feasible to selectively delete an unwanted memory.
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 7, 2018:
Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it....& i'd really rather not.
Describe a (nonsexual) hobby/activity that you love to do, and why you love doing it.
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 6, 2018:
I like to cook because it is a challenge to create new dishes that are delicious, healthy, economical, & something people would like to eat again. I like showing the people in my life how much i care for them & food is a way for me to do that. I also crochet, knit, & sew. It keeps my hands busy when other tasks are done & I create things that are useful. (It feels lazy to sit & just watch tv)
Wondering?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 6, 2018:
I'm a sapiosexual. Nothing is a bigger turn on than a guy who is smart, witty & engaged. Whether its books or physics or automotive repair, a guy who can speak with confidence, intelligence, who enjoys verbal give & take or watching historical documentaries... & its not so much that he can run a vacuum but is able to 'keep a house' (it doesn't have to be spotless, just lived in neat & tidy) & can handle himself in the kitchen.
So I was woken up today to someone pounding on the front door and the dogs barking.
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 6, 2018:
Last time JWs showed up to my door (in 2000) they asked my religious affiliation. Told them I was a wiccan. They asked whats that & I told them, "you know....a witch. But that word has a lot of baggage". They could not leave fast enough, literally backed away from me & 1 of the 4 kept etes on me at all times. They even backed out my driveway & caught a gear leaving. Pretty sure the black cat climbing up the inside of my screen door didn't help. Haven't had a visit since.
Name one thing you should never do naked.
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 5, 2018:
Pick blackberries
Why did you get married?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 4, 2018:
I was young, and stupid, and raised on the religious pablum that this was expected of me based on my gender. It didn't last long, I never did it again & never darkened a church door after the divorce.
Do you bring lunch to work or eat out?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 4, 2018:
I pack lunch because 1) I work downtown & its awfully expensive to eat out & 2) I have some food sensitivity/allergies so it's safer to bring from home.
I need some new music recommendations.

If you could make a law, what would it be?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 4, 2018:
1) That Congress had to pay into Social Security & have the exact same insurance, while in office, as their low income constituency. 2) term limits for all positions in Congress-2 terms & thats it. 3) any time there is no balanced budget, ALL members of the House & Senate are ineligible to run for a 2nd term. 4) "retirement" from political office means the paycheck stops & the retiree lives off savings & Social Security. Residual income from investments & political speaking are taxed & considered income, reducing Social Security & Medi-care benefits according to rule/law. I could go on....
Kilts anyone?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 4, 2018:
A lot of the guys i know wear kilts, both in their leisure time & for formal occasions.
Would You keep dating someone who felt it was necessary to keep you a secret from their kids?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 4, 2018:
I did not introduce the guys I dated to my kids until these guys had been around for at least 6 months AND had proven they were not going to be utter flakes...in other words, they met 2 people...1 I was with for 17 years, the other is now going on 6 years (& my sons are now in their early 30s). Its worked out well.
Anybody else swayed by the magic of the full moon?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 3, 2018:
Nah. I just feel like building a bonfire, adding a cauldron & dancing naked as a jaybird . Of course that would just confirm for my uber religious neighbors that I am possessed.
I Have To Attend A Funeral This Weekend!!!!
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 2, 2018:
Remember, funerals are for the living, not the dead. I recently lost a friend who did not want a service, wanted to be cremated & have his ashes scattered. He passed unexpectedly before being able to make his wishes officially known. Instead of what he wanted, his very religious mother took over & it was a religious service, all the trappings, & burial/grave side service. His friends were not happy to see his wishes ignored but some understood his elderly, sickly, & very religious mother needed the trappings of her religion to cope with the lose of her child. So there we all sat, uncomfortable, in this religious service for a man who was an affirmed atheist. Its ritual & trappings that people seem to need to move forward with grief.
Where do you like to buy most of your food?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 2, 2018:
I tend to go to the local"international" markets. Much larger fresh produce selection, a huge variety of spices & they tend to have fresher seafood. There are local farms where I can buy farm raised meat. I raise laying hens so I only have to walk to the coop for eggs. I also have a small garden of my own.
What is the word for the point of light you see on the edge of something?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 2, 2018:
Glimmer, glisten, twinkle?
Do you eat meat?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 2, 2018:
I grew up on a little farm where we had a huge garden, canned & preserved all summer, raised chickens, pigs & rabbits for food, hunted & fished & foraged throughout the year. We did not have meat with every meal. I just took it for granted that was normal. As an adult, as much as I love a good steak, beef hates me. Makes me violently ill when ingested. Don't know why. Bison is a good substitue but its expensive so its a rare treat. I was recently diagnosed as gluten sensitive (I don't have the disposable income or time or inclination to fight the insurance company to go through testing to confirm Celiacs) so that removes a ton of preprocessed common staple foods & vegetarian products from my pantry. Good thing I like to cook, its a real adventure these days.
Do you like eggs?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 1, 2018:
I raise chickens & get gobs of eggs. Ecellent as: Spoonbread Custard Quiche/sweet or savory pies Frittata/omlette/scrambles Scotch egg Egg pastas/breads Etc
I recently became single because my ex decided he couldn't live with my cat.
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 1, 2018:
Judas & Hitler would be passing out ice skates & parkas before I'd give up my dog for a dick.
Is there a lesson to be learned from a "failed relationship?"
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 1, 2018:
A failed relationship is an opportunity to look at what worked, what didnt, the qualities of the previous person & the qualities you want in your next relationship I like to think of relationships as math equations there is the constant(you), thevariablle(the other person) & the outcome. If the outcome is always the same, the issue is not with the variable. You can't make different, wiser choices without close evaluation.
Anyone have any Netflix recommendations?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 28, 2018:
The Last kingdom is really good. Then again, I'm a documentary enthusiast. And Hong kong theatre. And foreign movies. And the Great British Bakeoff....oh & the new Queer Eye...
Who else is short and they are constantly reminded daily about their height?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 28, 2018:
I'm 5'1". My pet peeve is when guys say, "omg, you are so small!", then proceed to pick me up & tote me around a bit. Takes every bit of self control not to lash out.
What was the most painful thing your lover had ever told you?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 28, 2018:
My ex was trying to be intentionally hurtful (it was at the bitter end). He was basically saying I could do no better than him. That I was "past being prime" & anyone who said different was lying just to get sex. "I remember you in your prime. You could melt concrete. You can't do that anymore. You aren't prime. You're past it." In that relationship 17 years, it took me less than 6 days to move & I didn't take time off from work to do it. Within 10 months of my leaving, he had lost everything. Karma is a bitch & sometimes you do get a front row seat to see come uppance.
Nicknames: Do you have one? What is it? Who gave it to you and why?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 27, 2018:
I've had a few. Before I got braces it was "Bucky" due to severe overbite. With braces it was "tinsel teeth" Then after developing a figure it was "Vidalia" (like the onion) because, evidently I was "a piece of ass that can bring tears to your eyes" (he was southern & it was a compliment.) Now, all grown up, I don't really have a nickname, unless the different bits of profanity I'm called throughout the work day counts (I'm an investigator for a utility compant).
I had a Tupperware party on line it was so fun. Has any body else done this new kind of party?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 27, 2018:
Feckin hell! Tupperware is still a thing?
Does wisdom come with age?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 27, 2018:
Wisdom comes with experience. Experience is achieved (usually) due to poor judgment . I had a very misspent youth full of very poor decisions (would not trade for world). I'm now a relatively wise woman who tends to ignore that built in, internal, early warning system...usually when it says "you shouldn't say that".
How is revenge best served...?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 27, 2018:
Revenge is sought when there is still an emotional investment. I tend to forget exs exist & cut people off completely who do me wrong, family ties be damned. I do not break bread or share salt with them (no eating or drinking at the same table/planned event) & other than required civility, they can die in a canoe fire surrounded by piranha & cancer. In other things, I do not seek to be purposely vindictive because life has a way of evening the score.
Were/are you more productive at work when you were/are in a relationship?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 27, 2018:
Work is work & my personal relationship doesn't impact my productivity. My career reputation & work ethic are very important to me & if the person I'm with tries to interfere with that, then they don't understand me or have a concept of my idea of real life bills, mortgages or obligation & responsibilty. I've pretty much made my way on my own most of my adult life & have worked hard for what I have. I don't date men for their wallets or what they can offer monetarily so they shouldn't expect me to shirk work for them.
If you had the chance to start over with someone, would you go back and meet them again or choose ...
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 27, 2018:
We had started dating & things were great but circumstances divide us & it was years before we reconnected. He is in a relationship & we are good friends but that is one where i'd really like a do over.
Toilet seat etiquette.
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 27, 2018:
We are all adults, put the seat in the position you want it in. If its dirty, clean while you're at it. Paper rolls from the top. Please see patent diagrams for confirmation of same. (Some dispensers are made for under though. If you use top dispensing position in these types of dispensers, the paper comes off in single sheets & tatters.)
I'm struggling and looking for advice.
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 27, 2018:
For me, I had to become comfortable & content being alone. I had to reclaim myself for me & stop being W & P's mom & G's wyfe. I needed to evaluate what I wanted from & for the rest of my life & learn what makes me happy & whole. Only then could I decide what I truly bring to the table, understand my worth as an individual, and figure out what I would like in the next person I invited into my life. I would rather be alone & happy than with the wrong person & miserable.

Death or Old Age - Which Do You Fear More And Why?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 26, 2018:
I think old age. I don't want to get down & decrepit, locked in a body I can't control. Death I look at as the final great adventure.
How often do you swear?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 26, 2018:
Every feckin day. A lot of times its in my head (at work) or under my breath (around small children). I curse a lot while driving & at the gym (but not so loud as not to offend others).
Is it possible to be in love with multiple people at once?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 26, 2018:
Yes, its possible. Some folks are hard wired monogamous. Some of us are polyamorous. It is very possible to be in loving, committed relationships with more than 1 person, at the same time, where everyone is in the know and everyone is respectful of the other relationships.
Where do ladies love to be taken for a first date?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 25, 2018:
I can't speak for others...& haven't been accused of being "a lady" in a long time but... I like going someplace where we can actually talk. Nothing ungodly loud or crowded or someplace where you aren't suppised to talk. If its a 1st meeting, I usually suggest a book store/coffee shop. If he says he isn't "a reader", we probably are not going to get on well. If the weather is nice, the park or a local hiking trail on the river or maybe the heron rookery. A trip to the museum or the historical society or one of the local historical cemeteries. Or even grabbing a bite to eat at a local restaurant where they have free salsa lessons & dancing. Something fun.
How did it go for you when you came out as an atheist?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 25, 2018:
I told my independent, fundamental baptist parents I left the church & was practicing witchcraft. Long talk, lots of "wailing & gnashing of teeth", prayer, blah blah blah then I laughed & said "I don't believe ANY of that stuff". They were so relieved I wasn't a witch, they missed everything else.
I'm hoping someone can shed some insight for me.
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 25, 2018:
Perhaps your spouse can step up & remind f-i-l that everyone has a right to believe or not according to the US constitution & if f-i-l can't leave the topic of religion alone, your spouse will follow the biblical eddict of leaving father & mother & cleaving to his wife in more pleasant locations & limiting unpleasant contact with said f-i-l. Sometimes the best you can do is love unpleasant family members/ people from a distance.
Is it wise to get back with an ex?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 24, 2018:
When my sons started the whole dating thing, I told the the following: Relationships are like a gallon of milk. If you pour a glass & its sour, you don't put it back in the fridge & think "that will be better 3 months from now". They are an Ex for a reason.
Am I weird?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 24, 2018:
I don't mind a wifebeater as long as the wearer isnt sporting a man bun & backwards ball cap, mirror sunglasses, a ratty messenger bag, linen "cargo" mid thigh shorts, crossed strappy "hiking" sandals, swilling starbucks & reaking of a combo of patchouli, stale liquor & gym sweat & riding yhe same elevator as me. (Not the way to start a Saturday morning at work.)
What is the worst purchase you’ve ever made?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 24, 2018:
Beets. I could have just grabbed a bowl of dirt out the garden, added blue & red food coloring & called it a day. Waste of perfectly good salt, pepper & butter. To this day I wouldn't smack a dog in the ass with a plate full of beets (southern colloquialism for "it ain't worth a shyte").

Have you tried comic book shops & gaming stores?
If a guy or girl straight up asked you to have sex with them, how would you respond to it?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 21, 2018:
Really depends on my attitude at the time. I have use the following to divert folks. "I gave at the office", "doctor says I'm still contagious & to finish my meds this time" "cute. How often has that worked for you in the past?" "Sorry, I'm a sapiosexual & I really don't think we're compatible"
Who else gets annoyed when someone like a cashier says have a blessed day?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 21, 2018:
My work requires a lot of phone conversations with people that basically amount to "yes, I do understand you need service. We need payment in cash, money order or certified funds". When customers start cursing me out, I tend to respond with "have a blessed day" & end the call. It tends to twist the knife so to speak & they can't accuse me of being rude.

If you had a penny for every time someone tried to convert you, how rich or poor would be?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 20, 2018:
After being dragged out of bed for the umpteenth time early one Saturday morning to hear "the good news" (I worked nights at the time) I told them I didn't need saving, I didn't believe in hell. They asked my religion so I said "wiccan". They were confused & asked, "whats that?" Me: "you know, a witch. I don't like to use that word...witch...too much baggage." They could not leave fast enough & evidently it got our address on the "do not convert" list.
Your tattoos and the story behind it/them
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 19, 2018:
This is my memorial tat for my dad. He was 1st generation American, WWII veteran (Army 12 years). There are 3 crows, symbol of The Morrigue, triple goddess of war/battle on a battlefield.
If you had to get a song lyric tattooed on your body, what would you choose?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 19, 2018:
"Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" (Daft Punk) figured out a medical condition that had my life on hold for over 18 months that was fixed by a simple change in diet (cutting out 'the thing') in July 2017. Down 35 pounds with about 25 to go to optimal weight.
What food did you dislike when you were young that you learned to like later?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 18, 2018:
There are a lot of things I like now that I couldn't stomach as a kid...squash & onions, liver, black pepper. When I grew up, I figured out my dad was right. My mother couldn't cook & would screw up the recipe for ice. Everything was cooked to either mush or cinders & coated in pepper.
What does "coffee" mean to you?
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 18, 2018:
Evidently, "coffee" may be misconstrued as a euphemism for sex these days. I've run into the same thing as far as guys thinking this was the face to face to decide if there was going to be a bit of "slap & tickle" (yes, thats a euphemism). I've started to make it bluntly clear that this is coffee & conversation & not "Lucas cage coffee". It also clues me in to how much of a geek they are cause if they don't know who Lucas Cage is... ????????????
Unusual expressions.
SallyInStitches comments on Feb 17, 2018:
My father was 1st generation American of Scots descent from the Shenandoah Valley, born 1920. My 3 favorites were: "I wouldn't slap a dog in the ass with a plate full of (insert inedible food stuff here)" "Your mother would f*ck up the recipe for ice" "(That person)'s so mean, they would put a sore assed duck into salt water."
