Going with relatively modern anthropology spanning recent centuries in America, I am hoping for interesting and insightful interactions here re this unspeakable national horror that is rarely, if ever taught in our schools. This site is VAST, so I ask that you merely read the many headings and opening paragraphs of unfamiliar topics in order to familiarize yourselves with the DEPTH and PERVASIVENESS of this horror before commenting, please. A full exploration would take several days, but a beginning to end scan is an education in itself. Here is where this Atheist of 50 years must quote the shortest passage in the bible, "Jesus wept."
It sometimes seems that the twentieth century especially before the seventies, is a different world in a different age. I hope that is true though you can never be sure, but even if all that happens is that such things are driven underground, that at least limits there magnitude and scope to some degree. And that will be a small victory for the modern media.
Maybe I missed it. Many black. Hispanic, and Native women were forcibly, and secretly sterilized. Often times they were coerced with lies about their health. At times they were steralized while under anesthesia for other non-related issues.

Posted by qpr81Trajan's column in Rome. Shame they put a pope on top of it. Even though this is a monument raised over a genocide it's still something worth seeing.
