It's antiquated and useless. More people are not religious or are non-attending nowadays. Like most, I attended for Christmas and Easter even though I didn't really believe until I just braved up and said aloud "I don't believe in God."

Can Canadians really be trusted to control their own lives? Probably not, let's legislate everything and do so from a strong Xstian morality bias. 
This is a government that got in on Buck a Beer campaign promises so it just makes sense that they follow through with their mandate. Doug Ford certainly makes me want to start drinking first thing in the morning, maybe even pour Canadian Club over my Fruit Loops to start the day.

The states have alcohol served after hours beyond 2am and some of those states are doing alright. I think as Canadians we will fare far better than our Murican friends.

Canadians always do! 
I don't love this idea, but I wonder about all the people who work alternative hours.
For some night shift people, "after work" is 7:00 a.m. They might appreciate getting together for a drink with colleagues, after hours.
Beyond that as an upside, I do have concerns.
